Seven Biblical Secrets for Life After Abuse

There are all forms of abuse in our world today, which millions of people are subjected to every day. While it’s an unfortunate reality, the truth is: You can have a beautiful, abundant life no matter what has happened in your past.

Here are seven things to remember for life after abuse:

  1. God is not to blame. God is love, and love is the reigning principle in His kingdom. Abuse and any other form of hate wars against it. To discover His love is what He ultimately wants for you. (1 John 4:7-8).
  2. You can love again. You may have been hurt before, and find it hard to love again. We believe you can.
  3. You are not worthless. No matter what lies your abuser told you, you are a prized ornament. You are worth more than you can imagine (Psalm 139:11, Luke 12:6,7).
  4. You have to forgive yourself. Free yourself from all of the shame, bitterness and resentment you feel. God already has.
  5. You no longer need to fear. Because His perfect love wins in the end. (1 John 4:18)
  6. You are not alone. Jesus will never leave you. Never! (Hebrews 13:5)

  1. I’ve been married 3 times and I’m going through a divorce for the 3rd time!! I was married twice to my first husband, the father of my girls and grandfather to our precious grandchildren!! That’s the divorce I’m currently going through! We made a decision 6 years ago to come live with my mother because she was getting to the point she could no longer stay alone! She fell a lot!! She went through back surgery ( major back surgery) where they took out part of her spine in two different places due to Disc Degenerative Disease and scoliosis! After her 9 hour back surgery in 2009 she went downhill with walking on her own and the use of her legs properly!! She never walked on her own without a walker again!! Now she can no longer walk with a walker without someone going behind her with her wheelchair! It really took a toll on our marriage! We became distant and turned into different people should I say! I could not be the wife he wanted me to be and he had gotten in a pattern of leaving every couple of months or so! I finally had gotten enough! I couldn’t handle him walking out and leaving me so easily! Anyway it wound up destroying our marriage and family and we could really use your prayers! It’s hard being a caregiver and you being disabled to! If it weren’t for God, I wouldn’t have made it this far!! Remember us in prayer please! Thank you and God Bless!!

    1. Hello Sonya,
I am so sorry to hear about our situation. Sometimes the challenges we experience on this earth can appear to be so overwhelming,
but even in the worse of the storm, the Lord is our anchor. My prayers are with you and your family at this time. May the Lord comfort you with His everlasting wings of love, as I am sure He has many times before. Much blessings. 🙂
